Unfortunately for him, Ryan O'Reilly wanted to make sure the puck crossed the line and gave it a little tap, robbing Knies of his first career goal. Knies, however, didn't seem too bothered by it after the game saying that he thought it had gone in and out. He was just happy to get his first point, but thanks to Saturday's overtime loss against Quinnipac in the Frozen Four Championship has a newfound hate for Amalie Arena.
Cameras captured O'Reilly smiling and apologizing to Knies on the bench after taking away his first goal, but it was all in good fun. Knies looked very good and more comfortable than in Monday's game against Florida. The line of Knies, O'Reilly and Nylander was surprisingly effective as well and could remain together Thursday for the season finale in New York.
