The Leafs skated away with a dominant 7-0 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday evening, which marked the second consecutive shutout for 25-year-old Ilya Samsonov, who now leads the NHL in both goals against average (1.70 GAA) and save percentage (.939 SV%) and moved to 9-2-0 on the season.

Last week, following his shutout victory over the Los Angeles Kings, Samsonov thought he was a shoo-in to be awarded the Leafs championship belt, awarded to the player of the game by the previous champion - in this case, goaltending partner Matt Murray, who had won the belt after a 44-save shutout against the Dallas Stars. Unfortunately for Sammy, Murray handed the belt to another unsung hero on the team in Zach Aston-Reese.

This time, Samsonov was not denied, earning his first run with the belt. He even became the first Leaf to bring it to his post-game interview, where he drummed up a few laughs from the media with his winning personality.
