At the end of his tenure with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Michael Bunting was doing more harm than good for the team as he had begun to receive a reputation of being a bit of an embellisher from NHL officials. By the end, even clear infractions weren't being called because the officials were sick of dealing with Bunting's antics. Now, it would appear as though an Ottawa Senators star has earned the same reputation.

Last night, Tim Stützle was blatantly given the "can opener" by Lightning defenseman Erik Cernak with just two minutes gone in the second period and the game tied at one. The play happened directly in front of officials as Stützle picked up a loose puck and attempted to weave through the Tampa zone. Stützle, the Sens and their fans were irate over the non-call but it's something they might have to get used to.

It's the second time in two games where Stützle was hauled down directly in front of officials with no call as it also happened near the end of the first period in the Sens' game Saturday night against the Flyers.

The officials have wanted to make it very clear to Stützle to start the season that he better clean up his antics if he wants to rid himself of his embellishment reputation. The question now, however, is how long will the officials send their message before it becomes too ridiculous or costs the Senators games?
