For the last few months, the San Jose Sharks have been trying to make a decision in net as they had Adin Hill, James Reimer and Kaapo Kahkonen all signed for the upcoming season. Most of the trade talk surrounded former Leaf and fan favourite James Reimer, who, at 34 years old, made the most sense for the Sharks to move. That's because Adin Hill and Kaapo Kahkonen are both 26 and could stabilize the Sharks in net for the foreseeable future.

On Monday however, the Sharks traded Adin Hill to their arch rivals, the Vegas Golden Knights, for a 2024 fourth round pick instead. The 26-year-old will have a chance to become Vegas' starter as Robin Lehner is out for the season following hip surgery. The Knights were initially going to enter the season with Laurent Brossoit and Logan Thompson as their tandem but decided an addition was necessary.

Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon spoke on the acquisition of Hill saying: "This puts another really good goalie in our organization and in our mix. It gives us a lot more comfort going into the year. I believe Adin has a lot of ability and he has really good size."

The Sharks are now set between the pipes with Reimer and Kahkonen while Vegas now have Brossoit and Hill as their tandem with Thompson on standby as well. Both teams will likely be in for long seasons given that their goaltending (aside from Reimer) are relatively unproven as starters.
