It's been a long road back for 22-year-old Rasmus Sandin, who suffered a knee injury against the Nashville Predators back in March. Sandin has been skating for a few weeks, most recently with his teammates as an extra defenseman, along with Timothy Liljegren, who was a healthy scratch in each of the last two games.

While Sandin has been working hard to get himself back to full health, it was relatively unclear as to whether or not he'd be thrust back into the lineup for the Buds as soon as he became healthy. Well, on Monday, we got our answer straight from head coach Sheldon Keefe.

Keefe explained to the media on Monday that Sandin is finally back to 100%, but that he would only see time in this series against Tampa if an illness, injury or another necessary absence forced him into the lineup. Keefe had stated that, due to Sandin still needing to get in some reps, his strength and conditioning is not where it needs to be for the team to take someone else out of the lineup and slide him in.

This is obviously not music to Sandin's ears, as he now knows that he might be a long shot to play in these playoffs unless an injury forces Keefe's hand, but nevertheless, if Sandin is the current #8 defenseman on the team, he's a pretty damn good 8th defenseman. There's no doubt in my mind that, if called upon, Sandin will rise to the occasion.
