Sheldon Keefe with an update on Jake Muzzin, gives a timeline on when we might see him back
Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe provided a bit of an update on the injured Jake Muzzin following the team's morning skate on Monday, ahead of their first of back-to-back games against the New Jersey Devils.
Muzzin has been dealing with a concussion and has missed the last four consecutive games for the Buds. While the veteran blueliner has not looked quite up to par this season, the Leafs' defensive lapses while he's been out of the lineup have been pretty obvious.
Per Keefe, Muzzin has been shut down for the next two games in hopes that he will be able to start ramping up the intensity of Muzzin's practices after the All-Star break this weekend.
Of course, with Muzzin's injury being a concussion, there is no guarantee that he'll be good to return immediately after the All-Star break, when the Leafs get back to the grind next Monday, but some rest will certainly do the Woodstock, Ontario native some good.
The 32-year-old has scored just 1 goal, adding 10 assists for 11 points in 35 games with the Leafs so far this season. Hopefully, once he recovers, he can pick up where he left off last season, when he was on a 41-point pace.
