Shocking: Youth hockey coach delivers hard slash to child for making a simple mistake during a drill
Hockey is a game of skill, effort, determination and attention to detail. A lot of parents get their kids involved in the sport young so they can gradually learn the game and build their skills over time. For many, hockey schools and camps are a great way to get kids some extra tutelage. Unfortunately, not all coaches are created equal and one Russian coach is coming under fire for his treatment of a student at a recent hockey camp.
In the clip below, you'll see a young player doing his best to complete a drill, stick handling around the cones placed in various spots on the ice. At one point, the young student misses a cone and briefly stops the drill to collect himself and to try to recall what to do. Then you'll see a coach skate in and do the unthinkable. He delivers a hard slash on the young player before reaming him out for messing up the drill.
I couldn't imagine being a parent and watching someone slash my kid like that. I understand that some coaches can be a little more stern and demanding than others, but I would absolutely draw the line at someone striking my kid with a stick for failing to fully grasp a drill. Since when does violence against a child (a very young one by the looks of it) teach them anything?
