Some very sad and unfortunate news to announce coming out of Chicago, as the Blackhawks have reportedly reached out to captain Jonathan Toews to inform him that his time in Chicago will be coming to an end at the conclusion of this season. There are also concerns that Toews could be preparing to announce his retirement from pro hockey amid persisting health issues.

Toews missed the 2020-2021 season due to health concerns. He then announced that his health issues were related to CIRS and long COVID. He returned for 71 games last season and played in 46 games this season before feeling the effects of long COVID once again.

Drafted third overall in 2006, Toews, along with Patrick Kane, helped lead the Hawks back to glory, winning 3 Stanley Cups in 2010, 2013, and 2015. He was also an integral part of Team Canada winning gold at the World Juniors, Olympics, World Hockey Championships and World Cup of Hockey.

It would be an unfortunate end to a Hall of Fame career for Toews, but he should find his way to the front office with the Hawks if he wants to.
