Per The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta in an appearance on the NHL Network, the Avs have reportedly reached out to a Central Division rival, the Chicago Blackhawks, to inquire on game-changing winger Patrick Kane.
It's no secret that the Avs are all-in on winning this season. They have already been linked to Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux, but if they've also reached out to the Hawks on Kane, there's a chance that they've also contacted other teams on other elite players.
Kane, 33, has spent his entire 15-year NHL career with the Blackhawks, who drafted him 1st overall back in 2007. Kane, a 3-time Stanley Cup Champion, has amassed 1143 points in 1080 career regular season NHL games. He has also near a point-per-game in the playoffs with 132 points in 136 playoff games.
Kane is the epitome of a clutch player and if the Avs are able to roll out a top 6 of Landeskog - MacKinnon - Kane and Burakovsky - Kadri - Rantanen, it will be difficult for opposing teams to contend with. This is definitely something to keep an eye on.
