The Boston Bruins are in for a rough start of the season, having star winger Brad Marchand out until December is going to hurt the team. Defenseman Charlie McAvoy is also expected to be out until December. These losses are going to be tough to recover from for the B's. Making the playoffs won't be an easy take for the Bruins and, unfortunately for them, this could cause them to lose David Pastrnak in free agency next year.
David Pastrnak, 26, has shown that he is a top winger in the NHL and arguably the best offensive player on the Bruins. Coming off of a season that saw him post 40 goals and collecting 37 assists for a total of 77 points in 72 games, the Czech winger is at the top of his game.
Unfortunately the one thing Pasta wants now is a Stanley Cup and being on a Bruins team that are past their glory days may not be the answer for him. If GM Don Sweeney can't build a good enough team around Pasta this season and show him they want to be competitive, this could be the last season we see the winger in black and yellow.
