Perhaps you caught it, but in case you didn't, during last night's Islanders/Leafs game at Scotiabank Arena, Isles forward Mat Barzal grabbed ahold of Mitch Marner on the ice while he was sitting on the Isles' bench, momentarily preventing him from getting into position.

Marner had originally found the actions of Barzal as funny, though he did admit that he was interested to see if the league would issue any supplemental discipline to Barzal on the play, given the fact that he was not on the ice, therefore being ineligible to get involved in the play.

Well, we didn't have to wait long for our answer, as Player Safety confirmed on Twitter that Barzal has indeed been fined for the play, which the league has dubbed "unsportsmanlike conduct".

Marner admitted during his post game media availability that he and Barzal have played a lot against one another and have also played together a few times and that they are actually friends off the ice - so Marner certainly didn't seem to mind all that much. Nevertheless, can't do that, Barzy.

The Isles' season will officially be cut short as a result of their loss to the Leafs on Sunday. They are now mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
