Whether you love or hate Nazem Kadri the hockey player, it is impossible to hate Nazem Kadri the person. Two weeks ago, Kadri made headlines when he brought Lord Stanley back to his hometown of London, Ontario. During his day with the cup, he made multiple stops around the city, but one stop in particular stood out from the rest; the local Mosque. Media celebrated Kadri for bringing the prized piece of hardware to his mosque because it truly echoed the sentiment that hockey is for everyone.

Well, the Toronto Maple Leafs' 7th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft is finding himself in headlines, and once again, it is for all of the right reasons. Today, it was announced that Kadri has made an extremely generation donation of $1 million to the London Health Sciences Foundation. This donation will help support the ambulatory surgical centre. In response to Kadri's incredible gesture, London Health Sciences has decided to rename the centre, and will now be called the "Nazem Kadri Surgical Centre".

I guess having your name etched onto Lord Stanley for all of eternity would be pretty cool. But I am sure Nazem Kadri and those closest to him will take much more pride in the fact that his name will also now be remembered thanks to his thoughtful act of charity in his hometown.

This has shaped up to be quite the summer for Kadri, who in just a few short weeks will be reporting to his new team, the Calgary Flames after signing a long-term deal for $49 million that will last seven years.
All the best to Nazem Kadri this upcoming season. Though he never found quite the same success while donning the blue and white, it is hard to not be happy for the guy!
