I've been dreaming of a trade that could bring Nashville's Tanner Jeannot to Toronto for well over a year now. He's big, physical, can score and he can fight. He would be a fantastic addiction to any playoff team. When I read Jeannot was scratched by the Predators tonight for "trade related reasons," I got excited. That excitement very quickly turned to disappointment when I read Elliotte Friedman's follow up tweet.
The Tampa Bag Lightning are already titans when it comes to playoff hockey. Adding Jeannot to a lineup that already includes Corey Perry, Patrick Maroon, Brandon Hagel, Nick Paul and the sneaky dirty Nikita Kucherov makes for a miserable forward group to play a best of seven against.
It may be worth it for Dubas to not only pay to acquire Jeannot, but overpay if it means keeping him away from Tampa Bay. Having him on the Leafs side instead of lining up against them would be a fantastic situation for the Leafs. Especially when compared to the alternative.
