With night one of the NHL's All-Star festivities now officially in the books, we now know what the four teams will look like in the 2024 NHL All-Star Game. The four captains and their assistants, along with their celebrity co-captains did their best to make the event as fun as possible for the fans in attendance, while also getting the players that they want in the draft.
Team Hughes, with Michael Buble as the celebrity co-captain, chose Nikita Kucherov with the 1st overall pick. Team Matthews, with Justin Bieber as the celebrity co-captain, chose William Nylander with the 2nd overall pick. Team MacKinnon, with Tate McRae as the celebrity co-captain, chose Sidney Crosby with the 3rd overall pick. Lastly, Team McDavid, with Will Arnett as their celebrity co-captain, opted to take the best goalie in the league in Connor Hellebuyck with the 4th overall pick.
On top of the fact that all four Leafs wound up on the same team, it's nice to see that Matthews and company prioritized getting two of the better goaltenders in Oettinger and Shesterkin - two netminders who can outright steal you a game. In addition, the selections of Keller, Barzal, Forsberg, DeBrincat and Trochek point to the captains trying to do their best to select both goal scorers and playmakers in hopes of creating a well-balanced lineup.
