The inconsistencies of the officiating in the NHL this year has been obvious from the drop of the puck in game one of the season. Sometimes this inconsistency works in the Leafs' favour and sometimes it doesn't.

It appears that Max Domi was able to get away with a call after he interfered with New York Rangers forward Will Cuylle.

Cuylle tried to catch a pass as the Rangers attempted to go into Toronto's end when Domi decided to skate up and drill the 21-year-old left winger. There was no call on the play despite the clear infraction.

After having a rough start to his season, Domi appears to have settled into his role as third line centre. He has seen a jump in his production in recent weeks, much to the delight of the fanbase. He has played 28 games, scored 2 goals and added 15 assists for 17 points and is a +3.

It's certainly expected that as the season rolls on, Domi's play will continue to improve as he's also playing for a contract. He's on a one year $3 million deal and he has expressed strong interest in remaining with the Leafs for the foreseeable future.

Even though Domi avoided the early penalty, the Leafs ended up losing the game 5-2.
