With the trade deadline looming and several competing teams likely wanting to get to work early so as to not miss out on the guy they want, there are three very interesting names rumoured to be available.

Jake DeBrusk - Boston Bruins

Jake DeBrusk has been in the rumour mill for quite some time, particularly since he had reportedly requested a trade from the Boston Bruins earlier this season. DeBrusk has 13 points in 33 games and could use a change of scenery.

The 25-year-old's pest mentality is something that contending teams may covet for a playoff run and his 26 points in 59 playoff games is worth noting as well, as it's evidence that the Edmonton native can provide some secondary scoring.

Claude Giroux - Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers captain could be on the move after 15 seasons as a member of the organization, and the 34-year-old could definitely help a any interested team in more ways than one. His ability to play both center and wing is an asset, as is his 85 games of playoff experience.

Giroux has been one of the most productive forwards in the league over the last decade and is the type player who could push a contender over the top. With 891 points in 981 games, Giroux is an absolute difference-maker.

The one caveat here for teams interested is that Giroux owns a no-movement clause and will have to waive and accept a trade, so he does have an element of control here, which could drive his cost down a bit, much to the dismay of the struggling Flyers.

Tomas Hertl - San Jose Sharks

Tomas Hertl is a name we've heard a lot over the past year and change, due to his status as a pending UFA and the reported lack of traction in contract negotiations. However, recently it was reported that the Sharks could be preparing an offer to retain Hertl's services, so teams may have to proceed with caution and not put all their eggs in one basket, as he may or may not be available at the deadline.

Hertl makes a hair under $6M per season, but he has put together four consecutive strong seasons and has 37 points in 42 games this season. He is going to get paid. The question is, if he moves, will he do so as a pure rental, or will he be the target of a team who intends to ink him to an immediate extension?
