With the game tied at 1 apiece in the third period, Philadelphia Flyers defenseman, Luke Richardson hit Darcy Tucker into the boards with gumption. Tie Domi took exception to the hit and tried to do what he did best - drop the gloves. Richardson not known to be a fighter did not want to get entangled with one of the league's toughest players so he declined the goading. However, two players were sent off for coincidental unsportsmanlike conduct minors.
In the penalty box, Domi was being heckled by a couple Flyers fans to which he responded back with a few words and spraying from his water bottle. He apparently sprayed a little too forcefully because another fan behind the 2 initial hecklers jumped in at Domi from his seat. He ended up falling over the glass and into the penalty box with the enforcer before he got all tied up by the referees.
The fan jumped out of his seat and almost over the glass on his initial leap towards Domi. Domi kept spraying and as he finally fell into the penalty box, all hell broke loose and Domi had him in a near head-lock with the referees trying to get the mess sorted out.
Colour commentator, Harry Neale with the commentary:
"Watch the lawsuit, Tie! Watch the lawsuit! I'm so happy that fan fell in! You thought that glass was protecting you. You bonehead!"
An absolutely iconic moment in Leafs history!
