Muzzin was a warrior on the ice for the Leafs. A Stanley Cup Champion with the LA Kings, Muzzin brought experience and grit to a team that was severely lacking in both departments at the time of his acquisition. Unfortunately, the many hard miles on Muzzin's body began to show after a couple of seasons in Toronto.
After suffering multiple concussions and a debilitating neck injury, Muzzin spent the vast majority of last season on long-term injured reserve (LTIR). While he hasn't officially announced his retirement yet, his new job as a Pro Scout for the Leafs confirms what we already knew. Jake Muzzin's career as an NHL player is over.
I have to say, it's good to see the Leafs doing right by Muzzin by helping to ease the transition into a post-playing career. His experience and knowledge will undoubtedly be valuable assets to the Leafs' scouting department.
