While Samsonov is playing as well as he is, off to a 3-0-0 start, not having allowed more than 2 goals in a single contest to date, it's allowing the Leafs to take their time with Murray and not be too concerned, since the team is currently in good hands.
So with that in mind, let's turn our attention to two former Leafs, who met last night, as Frederik Andersen and the Carolina Hurricanes rolled into Edmonton to face off against Jack Campbell and the Oilers. How did they fair? Well, they both got lit up, though at least Jack Campbell picked up a win over his former running-mate.
Campbell allowed 4 goals on 40 shots, making 36 saves and finishing his night with a .900 SV%. Andersen had a brutal night in Edmonton, allowing the Oilers to score 5, making just 27 saves on 32 shots and posting a .844 SV%.
Campbell is now 2-1-0 in 3 appearances for the Oilers this season, owning a .874 SV% and a 5.08 GAA. Meanwhile, Andersen moves to 2-1-0 on the season as well, albeit with a much better SV% (.920) and GAA (2.35) in his 3 appearances.
Both Campbell and Andersen left the Leafs in back-to-back seasons after lofty contract demands priced them out of Toronto. I guess the grass isn't necessarily greener on the other side - though Andersen has experienced at least some success to speak of in his run with Carolina.
