The Leafs lost a heartbreaker to Colorado on Saturday, coughing up a 4-1 lead and coming up on the wrong end of a 5-4 OT decision. Where have we heard that before?

Unfortunately for the Leafs, that may not be the only loss they suffered on Saturday, as Auston Matthews and Jack Campbell were both absent from Leafs practice on Sunday, according to The Hockey News' David Alter.

Matthews was electric through the first half of the game, potting 2 goals in quick succession and coming close to a third several times. There was a shift where he was taken down hard in front of the net and got up slowly later in the game, so there could be some lingering soreness there.

Campbell was fantastic in the loss, making several spectacular saves and stopping 44 of 49 shots. It's unclear if Campbell may have tweaked something on Saturday, or if Sheldon Keefe is just trying to provide Soupy with some extra rest after a long game at a much higher altitude than he's used to playing in.

The hope is that both players are just taking maintenance days. We should know more when Sheldon Keefe addresses the media after practice.
