Everyone with a kid in hockey knows one of THOSE parents. If you don't, well, I've got some news for you. Crazed hockey parents are the Canadian equivalent to European soccer hooligans. As entertaining as they can be at times, it would often be better for everyone if they just stayed home.

During a U14 game in Trois-Rivères, QC this past weekend, another in a long list of crazy hockey parent moments was caught on video. One of the players' moms seemed to take issue with the officiating. She left her seat, walked down to the glass and actually attempted to reach over it and swat at the linesman's head. I've seen players assaulted by parents on the bench, I've seen referees threatened in the parking lot after games, but never in my life have I seen a parent actually try to hit a referee mid game.

There was not much context provided with the video. Some have speculated that she was simply trying to alert the referee that the clock wasn't running during the play. Others believe if she could have reached him easier, she would have been swinging with more authority. It's not completely clear in the video what her intent was, and really, it doesn't matter. If you are a parent at your kid's game. Sit down, cheer on your team and leave it at that. If you can't control yourself at the rink, stay home.
