When Brayden Point went down in the second period for the Lightning in Game 7 against the Leafs, there was a sense that the Bolts were destined to lose their first playoff round in 3 seasons. Of course, we all know the end result of that one, with Point returning briefly in the third frame before being shut down for the night and the Bolts still finding a way to skate away with the victory and moving on to round 2, much to the dismay of Leafs Nation.

Point did not suit up at all in round 2 against the Florida Panthers, but that did not seem to hinder the Lightning at all, as they pulled off a dominant 4-game sweep of the Presidents Trophy winners, with Andrei Vasilevskiy playing first star and allowing only 3 goals in the entire series.

Well, on Wednesday, Point was back on the ice taking drills, and by the looks of things, he will likely miss at least the first two games for the Lightning's Eastern Conference Finals matchup against the New York Rangers.

The 26-year-old took a spill during his skate, tumbling into the boards and was slow to get up. He did remain on the ice briefly, but left shortly thereafter and did not return.

The situation is less than ideal for both Point and the Lightning as the Bolts are going to need every tool in the toolbox to solve Igor Shesterkin, the likely 2021-22 Vezina Trophy winner.
