Recently fired Canucks coach Bruce Boudreau joined Leafs Morning Take today and discussed his thoughts on this year's Leaf team, including the job Sheldon Keefe has done. Boudreau was the center of the worst kept secret in the NHL the past few months regarding his status as the Canucks' Head Coach and at the time of his firing said he thought the decision was made in October. The situation was handled horribly by everyone in Canucks management.

Before he joined the Canucks, Leaf fans were hoping that he would join the Leafs in some capacity to help the team with its defensive woes, something Boudreau touched on during his appearance this morning. "I think their goaltending is a lot better this year. I think they play way more of a defensive game. The past few years, it was run and gun and they let their top-six just score. If you look at them now, they're in the top-10 defensively in the league and that's what you have to be."

Boudreau went on to commend Sheldon Keefe in how he has gotten the team to buy-in to a more defensive approach, commending Keefe for making in game adjustments and doing an excellent job of addressing problem areas of their game and making good use of practices, cleaning up what they need to clean up between games.

Boudreau believes the Leafs can make a deep playoff run this season and as a Leaf fan himself, he will likely be watching from afar, cheering them on while collecting a nice paycheck from the Canucks.
