Earlier this week, Bedard and the Hawks played host to division rival, the Minnesota Wild for a Thursday evening Central Division clash, which went to a shootout. Bedard was the Hawks' first shooter and moved in on veteran netminder Marc-Andre Fleury and attempted to change speeds and dangle around the 3-time Stanley Cup winner. Fleury wasn't having any of it, not only making the stop, but welcoming Bedard to the NHL by hooking his right skate out from underneath him following the failed shooting attempt.
It was all in good fun for Fleury, who skated past Bedard after the missed attempt and gave him a tap on the shin pads as the rookie sat on the ice contemplating what he could have done differently to achieve the desired result.
There's no doubt that Bedard will get his revenge at some point. As Central Division rivals, the Hawks and Wild will play each other a number of times this season. You can bet that Bedard will be a little extra motivated to put Fleury on his highlight reel this season.
