The Leafs received some good news at practice today as injured forward Calle Jarnkrok was sporting a regular blue jersey, typically reserved for players who are expected to play. Jarnkrok has been out since November 30th with a groin injury. At the time he had just gotten a spot on the second line with John Tavares and Mitch Marner.

With Nick Robertson out and both Denis Malgin having been traded to the Colorado Avalanche, there remains a hole in that second line left wing spot. Jarnkrok looks to be reprising his role on that second line, barring an unforeseen change before tomorrow's game against the Lightning.

Additionally, Wayne Simmonds was once again in a grey "extras" jersey today at practice. It's not uncommon this season for Simmonds, as he has only skated in 7 games this season. With the Leafs now beginning to reach the point of identifying their main roster guys and trading players who may not fit into the bigger picture in Toronto, perhaps we'll see Simmonds offloaded as well.
