Your first look at Domi and Reaves battling at Leafs training camp
Yesterday was the first day of on-ice sessions for the Leafs at training camp, in what was a grueling first skate that began with sprints and included plenty of battle drills. In a one-on-one battle drill, a pair of new Leafs squared off against one another with Max Domi and Ryan Reaves going at in a puck protection drill.
The battle was a clear mismatch on paper with the 5'10, 208-pound Domi protecting the puck against the 6'2, 225-pound Reaves, but Domi was able to hold his own throwing reverse hits at Reaves while protecting the puck. The battle was surprisingly intense over the 30 seconds before the whistle blew, but it was all smiles and laughs from both of them afterward.
Domi and Reaves were brought in to add some more "snot", as GM Brad Treliving put it, to the Leafs' lineup and have set the intensity level early in camp, which should be followed by everyone, especially those battling for the final roster spots.
