Anthony Stolarz Passing On Some Quality Lessons to Leafs Teammate Joseph Woll

26-year-old Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll has revealed that teammate Anthony Stolarz has really helped him with one key area of his game.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are in the enviable position of having two quality goaltenders, both of whom can be viewed as starter-caliber goalies.
Previously an area of weakness in Toronto, goaltending has suddenly become an area of strength, even if health is somewhat of a concern for the two netminders.
Anthony Stolarz, who won a Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers last season, knows what it takes to win, and for Joseph Woll, his time with his 31-year-old counterpart has been just as much about learning as it has been about pulling his own weight.
So, what has Stolarz been able to teach Woll this season? I'm sure he's imparted more than one tidbit of wisdom, but perhaps none more important than on-ice communication.
This week, Leafs defenseman
Jake McCabe praised Stolarz for communicating with his defensemen.
"He's vocal back there. He's loud. He talks really well." - McCabe on Stolarz
Woll not only agreed with McCabe's sentiments, but revealed that he's really tried to adopt that trait from Stolarz.
"It's something I've tried to learn from... it's something I'm trying to do a better job of and yeah, it's something he's really good at."
WHO WILL EMERGE AS THE NUMBER ONE GOALIE FOR TORONTO IN THE PLAYOFFS?
What that means for Woll, who is perceived to be slightly behind Stolarz on the depth chart in Toronto, is that if he wants to be the starter come playoff time, he'll have to make up some ground in the final 20-plus games to show that he deserves the starting role more than the veteran Stolarz, who has produced excellent numbers and delivered consistently good goaltending for the Leafs all season long.
Stolarz has produced 13 wins this season to go along with a 2.21 GAA and a .927 SV% across 21 starts.
Woll has been able to rack up 20 wins, thanks in part to a larger workload while Stolarz was sidelined. Woll, though, has not been able to mirror Stolarz's peripheral stats, owning a 2.63 GAA and a .910 SV%, which are still respectable, but not quite as good as that of his tandem partner.
