The Toronto Maple Leafs took care of some business on Saturday, announcing a deal for a 6'2, 200-pound scoring forward in the week leading up to the trade deadline.
With the day off on Saturday, the Leafs announced thay they have signed Prince George Cougars forward Borya Valis to a 3-year entry-level contract with the deal kicking in for the 2025-26 season.
The 20-year-old undrafted forward is currently in his fifth WHL season taking a huge step offensively in his overage season.
At 6'2 and 200 pounds, the Los Angeles, California native fits the mold of the big, powerful type of player that Brad Treliving and Craig Berube want in the organization, which was evident when he acquired 6'7 defensemanCade Webber from Carolina at last year's trade deadline.
The right winger has registered 29 goals and 73 points in 57 games for Prince George, far surpassing his previous career high of 48 points which he collected in his second WHL season skating for the Regina Pats.
In last year's playoffs, he helped Prince George advance to the third round tallying 9 goals and 13 points in 15 games.
Through 236 career WHL games, he has recorded almost a point-per-game with 86 goals and 130 assists totalling 216 points.
