The Toronto Maple Leafs won a huge matchup last night as they took down the Buffalo Sabres at home. The win has them tied with the Montreal Canadiens for third place in the Atlantic Division. Leafs' forward Auston Matthews scored an absolute beauty last night, but he won't be seeing any of the praise on social media. Matthews explained to Jonas Siegel of The Athletic recently that he stays away from social media because there's simply just too much chirping. Here's an excerpt from Siegel's recent article:"Have you figured out how to manage the highs and lows of the market better?
Yeah, for sure. I think a big thing is, especially for us young guys, social media. Just being able to manage that and helping myself. I think probably the last couple weeks I haven't played as well as I wanted to or I haven't produced as much as I wanted to, and so obviously people …
They chirp.
Yeah, of course. They're on you. They're chirping you and stuff like that. So, I just try to stay away from that and try to listen to positivity, just do my work and then go from there.
Does it help mentally?
Yeah, I think so. A lot of times it's, like, funny, but it kinda gets old, right? It's the constant badgering from the same three people that are just behind their computer screens. I think it's just a good thing to just have those positive thoughts and not be reading stuff online. I'm not really a fan of that anyways, but I think especially when things aren't going the way you want 'em to."
