"Yesterday the Toronto Maple Leafs surprised fans and analysts as they sent rookie Rasmus Sandin to the AHL. Sandin was a breath of fresh air on a Leafs' defensive group that needs all the help it can get. Head coach Mike Babcock spoke to the media and gave some details regarding why Sandin now finds himself with a Marlies' jersey instead of a Leafs' one. "We can't get him on the power play in front of the guys we got, can't get on the penalty kill. So in the end, a real good night is 14 minutes. This is the best thing for his development."
The Leafs' head coach said Sandin was disappointed so he didn't spend too much time with him. "To be honest, when you send a guy down, everything you say he doesn't hear. In four or five days, I'll take the video stuff, sit down with Sheldon (Keefe) and go through it with (Sandin). That's a way better time."
What do you think of Babcock's explanation?
