Another day, another NHL head coach gets fined for complaining about the referees.

It's a tough job because even though you go by the book, you're going to miss a lot of obvious calls, you're going to make calls based on your own indiscretion, and whenever you call a penalty on one team, the other team gets angry and starts calling out biases.

Florida Panthers head coach, Paul Maurice was slapped with a 25,000$ fine after his post-game comments following a 5-4 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night. He was quoted as saying:

"I don't know what the hell those guys were doing tonight but it wasn't Florida Panther friendly. I just explained to them that it had nothing to do with my players, it had to do with me and a relationship that I have with one of the referees. That's what that was all about."

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach, Sheldon Keefe was handed a 25,000$ fine earlier this season and at first glance it seemed like Maurice was going to escape the clutches of the NHL but they finally ruled that he went over the line and handed him the supplementary - one day later than usual.

NHL head coaches have been going after the referees this season, it seems more so than any other year. The night after Maurice was angry with the officials during his game, Pittsburgh Penguins head coach, Mike Sullivan, had the same issue, claiming "it was ridiculous" receiving 9 penalties against the Ottawa Senators.

Maybe don't claim that some teams have referee biases or that you have a vendetta with officials and you probably won't lose 25,000$ for no reason.
