"The Toronto Maple Leafs will find themselves in a different position heading into the trade deadline this season as they will be buyers instead of sellers, which is what they have been more times than not over the past few years.
Many feel that the Maple Leafs need to add another veteran defenseman for a playoff run and Bob McKenzie was on Friday's edition of Leafs Lunch on TSN 1050 to discuss this very topic.
McKenzie mentioned the names we have heard for weeks including Mike Green, Tyson Barre and Ian Cole. However, McKenzie doesn't think any of those guys will knock anybody out of the Leafs top-four and they are better off by letting Travis Dermott play and progress.
«For me, when I look at what Travis Dermott is, and when Zaitsev is healthy, I think you've got five good defensemen there and Carrick might make a sixth,» McKenzie said. «Maybe some of those guys that we talked about — a Green or a Cole — might be an upgrade on Carrick, and if that's already your plan, then great. I just don't see any of those guys supplanting anybody in the top four of this team right now.»
Do you agree with McKenzie's line of thinking or do you think the Leafs need to add another veteran blue liner to the mix?"
