The Game 2 score line of 3-2 Toronto appeared a lot closer than Game 1's 5-1 victory for Boston. The Bruins captain disagrees, saying the score line in Game 1 didn't tell the full picture.
General Manager Brad Treliving was clear when hired this summer that he wanted to bring in players that were "hard" to play against. Treliving's summer additions of Max Domi, Ryan Reaves, and Tyler Bertuzzi fit that mold. Treliving carried that philosophy into the trade deadline, adding Joel Edmundson and Ilya Lyubushkin to the roster as well.
Marchand's complimentary take on the Leafs is a far deviation from his usual mind games. Maybe this is an approach to hopefully have Toronto let their guard down a little bit or it could just be a moment of honesty from the Bruins captain. There aren't too many of those, so we should embrace it and take the compliment as Leaf fans.
