The Toronto Maple Leafs lost a nice piece of their defensive depth during free agency as Zach Bogosian left to head south of the border. Bogosian played in 45 games this past season for the Leafs and while he didn't rack up the points he provided a physical presence on the backend. The 31 year old defenseman found a nice offer during free agency for three years from the Tampa Bay Lightning. Bogosian explained it all recently. «I respectively told the Leafs that before I knew where COVID was going and restrictions and protocols and borders that I couldn't give them an answer,» Bogosian said.He loved his time in Toronto though. «An extremely classy organization. The way they treat their players is amazing. I didn't meet too many people obviously in the city but you can feel the support from Leafs Nation throughout the year.»With Bogosian gone, we're likely looking at a Travis Dermott and Rasmus Sandin duo on the third pairing.
