To say that the Boston Bruins have a stranglehold on the Toronto Maple Leafs right now is an understatement. The Bruins have held the Leafs to just 7 goals all series long, with Auston Matthews having factored in on almost half of them with a 3-point night in Game 2.
The Bruins have outscored the Leafs 14-7 in the series thus far and all 3 of their wins came in regulation with multi-goal lead, while the Leafs have managed to hold no multi-goal leads in any of the games in this series. Quite simply put, the Bruins have had their way with the Leafs.
In an attempt to convey this same message, former Edmonton Oiler and current co-host of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, Ryan Whitney, created an AI-generated image depicting the Bruins' mascot engaging with the Leafs' mascot in a non-consensual manner.
Obviously, the image was meant to be a joke, but even jokes can be in poor taste at times. There's a line there that you don't know you shouldn't have crossed until you've already crossed it and for Whitney, there could be severe consequences.
As a public figure, Whitney should know that anything he says or does will be amplified. In this case, his reputation has taken a big hit as a result of the shared image on social media. As far as what the fallout will be, it's too soon to know that yet.
