When Fanatics took over as the NHL's new official outfitter, the move was met with a great deal of scrutiny from those who had become accustomed to the quality of the Adidas "Adizero" jerseys.
Meanwhile, Fanatics had earned a pretty poor reputation for themselves among fans with many reported incidents with printing mistakes on jerseys and other memorabilia. Some logos have been printed and stitched off-center, some player names had spelling errors and the big concern was that the overall quality would be taking a dip.
While not everyone has shown excitement for the switch, some fans were in for a treat, as Fanatics and the NHL confirmed with Icethetics that some changes to uniforms were on the way. Notably, the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks will see uniform changes in 2024-25. The Maple Leafs, however, will not.
Icethetics and Fanatics have already confirmed that the Leafs will be going with the same home and away jerseys from the past several seasons, as well as the Justin Bieber "Flipside" jerseys and the special St. Pats jerseys that the Leafs wore for St. Patrick's Day this past season.
When the league made the switch from Adidas to Fanatics, apparently a part of the agreement was that teams would hold off making any major changes to their uniforms at the start of the deal. Obviously, Fanatics was willing to budge on that, allowing the Ducks and Kings to make their respective changes. Perhaps we'll see the Leafs opt for a change in 2025-26, which is when some real change may take place for the organization on the ice, with both Mitch Marner and John Tavares will see their deals expire.
