Joseph Woll will not be starting the season between the pipes for the Leafs due to injury, which led to former Leaf Jay Rosehill going off on Woll for his ongoing health issues.

Early Wednesday morning, concerns arose when the Leafs used an emergency recall on rookie goaltender Dennis Hildeby. Many immediately suspected that Woll was injured, which was later confirmed by the Leafs. That left Anthony Stolarz to start against the Montreal Canadiens instead, with Hildeby dressing as the backup for the season opener.

Woll's injury was the main topic of conversation on Wednesday's 'Leafs Morning Take' episode, and former Leaf Jay Rosehill was not enthused, going on a rant and slamming Woll's inability to stay healthy.

"It just can't stop. Why can't we be normal? You've had since April to get rid of your tightness. What happened, dude? It's just mind-melting, but it's not the end of the world, obviously. But the countdown we've been doing for like 80 days and then Twitter is abuzz, the passion is in everyone... Oh sorry, huge issue here, our goalie can't play.

It's just so Leafy. Stolly is totally capable, it's just like why and how? It's the very first day of the year and you're f***ing hurt. I don't get it, man."

Rosehill's frustration could be felt throughout his rant and I'm certain that there are plenty of fans who agree with his frustration about the Woll situation. Everyone is baffled by the news and all of the concerns about the health of the tandem before the season have proven to be true on day one.

Matters only worsened when Woll was placed on Injured Reserve on Wednesday, meaning that he will be guaranteed to miss at least the first 3 games for the Maple Leafs. Hopefully this is all just one small bump in the road, but it's definitely not a positive start for Woll and the Leafs.
