"The Toronto Maple Leafs have some question marks when it comes to their goalie position. While Frederik Andersen and Jack Campbell are slotted in as #1 and #2, neither of them are fully healthy and the Leafs don't really have an emergency plan. They have Michael Hutchinson and Veini Vehvilainen hanging around but the belief is neither of them could really take on a full load if needed. That's why NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports the Leafs have stayed in contact with the Buffalo Sabres regarding one of theirs. According to Friedman the Leafs are looking into landing Linus Ullmark from the Sabres. The 27 year old soon to be free agent only carries a $2.6million cap hit on the season and has a 2.49 goals against average along with a .920 save percentage. Pretty remarkable numbers considering the team he plays for. Friedman adds this isn't necessarily a deal on the table but he would likely be the plan if the Leafs find out Andersen is done for the season.
Elliotte Friedman on WGR550: Toronto has called Buffalo asking what their plans are with Ullmark in case they need to add a goalie. Talks not serious yet, due diligence in case news on Andersen is bad. — J (@Account4hockey) April 1, 2021
