The Fourth Period's Dave Pagnotta was on NHL Network on Wednesday and was asked about the Maple Leafs and if they had any plans to shake up their roster even more than they already have. Pagnotta revealed that the Leafs are working the phones and centering trades around two specific players.
Timmins carries a $1.1M cap hit and has found his name in the rumour mill since the beginning of September. Robertson, on the other hand, has been looking for a fresh start since his trade request at the end of June. While he signed a one-year deal with the Leafs just last week, some throughout the league saw it as a way to make it easier to trade him.
As we get deeper into training camp, it will be interesting to see where Robertson and Timmins fit in the lineup and how Craig Berube uses them. Their usage could and should reveal the Leafs' long-term plans for each of them.
