Leafs experiencing some great success due to this one key factor
The Toronto Maple Leafs have found consistency in many aspects of their seven game win streak, which dates back to February 13th. One key underlying contribution to their success of late is something the Leafs have been in search of all season long that will be required for a deep playoff run.
While fans expect the core four to lead this team with elite production, and thankfully they are doing so this season, a huge reason for the team's success that has led to Toronto winning twelve of their last fifteen games is the fact that the Maple Leafs are receiving secondary scoring on a consistent basis.
It's never easy to win when you're only getting contributions from your top players. This adds pressure to the blueline, special teams, goaltenders, and the top players have to perform at near one hundred percent every shift. When depth players start providing secondary scoring and become key contributors, it helps motivate everyone on the bench to continue adding to leads, defending better, and closing out games.
If the Maple Leafs continue to find secondary scoring amongst their supporting cast, it will help this team find the playoff success they've been in search of for over two decades.
