Although the Nashville Predators have struggled to make any in-roads this year, despite making several major splashes over the summer, they were certainly not a team to downplay by any means.
When they opened the scoring on Wednesday night at the 5:26 mark of the first period, that was one thing, but the way they scored could have snowballed into something far worse for Joseph Woll, if he did not keep a level head and a good attitude about it.
Woll did a fantastic job at bouncing back and shutting the door the rest of the way to earn his 6th straight win, as reported by Evan Doerfler of The Hockey News.
The puck took a wacky bounce off the glass before landing into Woll's blue paint, where Jonathan Marchessault was able to locate the puck and fire it into the open cage.
Woll ended up allowing just one more goal - with a 2-goal lead at the 16:38 mark of the third - while making 22 saves for his 7th win on the season. It also helped that the core players on the offensive side of the puck showed a lot of resiliency in not only tying the game but quickly taking the lead right after.
It should go without saying that Woll's attitude has been a breath of fresh air between the pipes after years of inconsistency and instability at the position. There's a different level of confidence and a better trust factor when Woll is in goal compared to previous seasons with the likes of Ilya Samsonov, Jack Campbell, Petr Mrazek, or Frederik Andersen.
Look for Woll to continue his run of excellency on Saturday night on the second leg of their back-to-back against the Pittsburgh Penguins as he looks for his 7th consecutive win.
