With the NHL and AHL taking part in Hockey Fights Cancer this weekend, we will be seeing many players and teams wearing special equipment or jerseys that will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to great causes all across the country.
Toronto Marlies' goaltender Dennis Hildeby will be doing his part, having a special mask crafted in honour of Hockey Fights Cancer. "Healing through happiness" is plastered at the front of the mask with a bracelet on both the left and sides with his name attached to it.
According to Nick Barden of The Hockey News, Hildeby will be wearing the mask to support Campfire Circle, which is a privately funded charity "that brings laughter and joy to kids and families affected by childhood cancer."
The mask will then be auctioned off later this month with all proceeds going to Campfire Circle. Barden also mentions that the organization is very close with Campfire Circle with Joseph Blandisi volunteering for them this past summer. He will be donating 25 dollars for every goal he scores this season and as of right now, he has 3 goals in 10 games.
"I just think, what [Campfire Circle] does for people that have got dealt a little less fortunate hand, it's pretty special you're able to put a smile on those kids' faces," Blandisi said earlier this season.
Hildeby spent a majority of the early portion of the season with the Toronto Maple Leafs with Joseph Woll on the IR but has since posted a 1-0-1 record with the Marlies, while accumulating a .938 SV% and a 1.93 GAA.
