Ahead of Saturday's game, the Leafs made a surprising roster move that saw Nicholas Robertson sent down to the Toronto Marlies to make room for the return of Calle Jarnkrok. That was the only major change up front and it would appear as though Sheldon Keefe will run the same forward group tonight against the Boston Bruins, meaning that Noah Gregor will remain a healthy scratch.
On the back end, however, the Leafs got some good news as Ilya Lyubushkin, who was injured in the second period Saturday after a thunderous hit from Matt Rempe, was a full participant in the morning skate, paired, once again, with Morgan Rielly. Keefe also reunited T.J. Brodie and Timothy Liljegren and rounded out his group with his usual shutdown pair of Simon Benoit and Jake McCabe.
It was a surprise to see Lyubushkin back at practice today after taking such a nasty hit on the weekend, but Sheldon Keefe was very transparent with the fact that the Leafs put Lyubushkin through a litany of tests on Saturday before deciding to hold him out of action in the 3rd period. Lyubushkin passed those same tests with flying colours today before being cleared to resume practice.
The Leafs appear to have dodged a bullet, which is excellent news for both the team and for Lyubushkin, who is lucky to have escaped the ordeal without a serious head injury.
