While the Toronto Maple Leafs have a rare Saturday night off, there are several forwards that will have Sunday off as well when the Leafs take on Utah Hockey Club. Unfortunately, that will include Max Domi.
Head coach Craig Berube was asked today whether Max Domi, who was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, would be able to play against Utah Hockey Club on Sunday. The answer was no.
Unfortunately, Berube revealed Domi is still going through rehab on the injury, and is not ready to get back to skating just yet.
While Auston Matthews recently cleared the air on his injury, Domi's remains a mystery, other than it being a lower-body issue.
The injuries for the Leafs have been bad enough lately that GM Brad Treliving announced a one-year deal for Alex Nylander, who was on an AHL deal previously.
Utah Hockey Club has a 7-9-2 record on the season, and likely wouldn't pose much threat to a healthy Toronto Maple Leafs roster. But, with so many players on the sidelines, things get less predictable.
Despite the injury issues, Toronto is first in the Atlantic Division, on a three-game win streak, and 7-2-1 in the last 10 games. There's no need to panic just yet, but it is concerning if some players can't get healthy before others get hurt down the road.
