The Toronto Maple Leafs have been without goaltender Joseph Woll since he suffered a high-ankle sprain in the third period of a game against the Ottawa Senators in early December. The Leafs have been extremely cautious with Woll's recovery and we have only seen him rejoin the team at practice without limitations over the past week.

Woll took part in practice again yesterday, but following the skate, which was missing a handful of regulars due to «maintenance days», head coach Sheldon Keefe provided a less than positive update on the young netminder. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like he's anywhere close to returning.

"He's just gotta continue to work through it and get to a point where he himself feels comfortable, confident to be playing games."

Essentially, what Keefe is saying here is that Woll has still not progressing well enough that he and the Leafs would be comfortable enough to put him in game action just yet.

The Leafs have no scheduled practices this week on their four-game road trip, which will take them through St. Louis, Arizona, Las Vegas, and Colorado, so it is unlikely that we see Woll return to game action until some time next week at the earliest. In 15 games with the Leafs this season, Woll is 8-5-1 and has posted a 2.80 GAA and .916 save percentage.
