"The Toronto Maple Leafs added some pretty significant players this offseason and the lineup is starting to take shape with the new guys. Everybody is pretty excited especially about the addition of forward Joe Thornton into the mix and he'll be thrown right in. Thornton has been practicing with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner on the team's first line and it's likely where he'll open up the season. You can't ask for a better vet to come in and take the two forwards under his wing after Patrick Marleau and it seems like the perfect fit. However one reporter isn't impressed at all by what he's seen so far. Toronto Sun reporter Michael Traikos ripped Thornton in his latest piece because of basically how he's dressed and how he looks. Traikos was extremely offended by how Thornton told reporters that he "has no stress". "For Matthews and Marner, he is the cautionary tale. Only you wouldn't know it looking at him today. Wearing a hoodie and with a perma-smile peaking out behind an unkempt greying beard, Thornton doesn't look like a guy who has been beaten down by the game. Instead, he looks like someone who has happily spent the past decade living a hedonistic life out of his van on the beach with Brent Burns. And he's bringing that surfer-like mentality to Toronto."Check out the full article below:
