"The Toronto Maple Leafs are rolling along and are still sitting in first place of the Scotia North Division. While the success is there, some people are still finding a way to complain and it seems a lot of the heat is targeted towards the Leafs' second line. We saw TSN's Craig Button go at John Tavares recently saying he's just not an elite point producer anymore, and now it's William Nylander who's the target of a different reporter. The Toronto Sun's Steve Simmons decided to pop up again and this time take some shots at Nylander, comparing him to a piece of IKEA furniture. "William Nylander is like buying furniture from IKEA with the instructions somehow missing from the package"The 24 year old has 12 points in 17 games this season after scoring 31 goals in 68 games last year along with his 28 assists.
But Simmons went off. "Nylander doesn't spend very much time in the places where Matthews and Marner score. He doesn't shoot much despite his incredible wrist shot. He rarely, if ever, skates at full speed — and he has dazzling speed. He just dances in the corner, along the boards, behind the net, cycling, showing off his skills and leaving his coaches frustrated with his inability to turn skill into scoring. The words used to describe him around the Leafs and around the league are mercurial, erratic, alluring, disappointing, fascinating and curious. The players on the team like him and respect his talents. But this group seems to like everybody."What do you think of Simmons' comments?Check out the full article below:
