The childhood dream of playing for the Leafs is turning into a nightmare for Max Domi with one reporter comparing him to a vehicle that leads to "buyers remorse".

Ending up in a Leafs jersey was always his goal, Domi admitted days after signing a 4-year extension worth $3.75M annually in June, right before he was set to hit the free agent market.
Growing up around the Leafs and understanding the scrutiny players face in "The Mecca of Hockey", Domi has not been one to shy away from answering the tough questions about his performance and lack of production.
Like last season, Domi began this year by going 22 games without a goal and after scoring in three straight games, he is slumping again on a scoring drought that currently sits at 17 games.
With the Leafs constantly battling multiple injuries to the forward group, and the emergence of Matthew Knies and Bobby McMann, it has been particularly hard for Craig Berube to find a fit for the 29-year-old, leading to some reporters questioning his future with the Leafs.
The Leafs Nation's Jon Steitzer was the latest to question his future, and in the process, gave Domi a rather humiliating nickname.
"Max Domi's nickname should be Cybertruck because he's expensive and comes with a ton of buyer's remorse," wrote Steitzer.

While unfortunate, many agreed with Steitzer's new nickname for the former first-round pick.
Domi has always struggled defensively, and prolonged usage at center in Toronto has only amplified his shortcomings. Additionally, he is playing third line minutes, and although Berube hasn't given him a plethora of opportunities in a top-six role, when he has gotten them, his performances have not been fruitful.
Amid another goalless streak, Berube has been harping on Domi to shoot the puck more consistently, which has been the message almost for the entire season. Time and time again, however, Domi continues to pass off on high-quality scoring chances, leading to frustration among the fans.
As the trade deadline approaches, many are wondering if Brad Treliving and the Leafs are quietly looking to cut ties with the legacy Leaf in an effort to acquire someone that will be a better fit for the forward group and Berube's system. At this point, it might be a wise decision.
