The Toronto Maple Leafs got a scare a couple of weeks ago when, in his first game back as a Leaf, Ilya Lyubushkin left the game against the New York Rangers following a questionable hit from Rangers rookie Matt Rempe.

Many felt that Rempe should have been called for a charge on the play given the number of strides he took to get to Lyubushkin, that he left his feet and made direct contact with Lyubushkin's head. Thankfully, after sitting out the remainder of that game, "Boosh" didn't miss any time.

Although the hit was a couple of weeks ago, Lyubushkin was asked about it on 'Leafs Morning Take' this week, and surprisingly, he indirectly defended Rempe.

"He's really tall. Hockey it's a physical game. Maybe I have to protect myself a little different. I was ready for his hit, but maybe I didn't expect he was so tall and maybe I can change my position a little bit. He's a heavy guy, it's part of hockey."

Lyubushkin clearly had no issues with the hit, but has had a rough go lately as he left last night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers twice after being on the receiving end of big hits. Lyubushkin was acquired by the Leafs for the second time on February 29th for a pair of draft picks ahead of the trade deadline.
