Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews has shared his reaction to the news that goaltender Anthony Stolarz will be sidelined for the next several weeks, insisting that his team remains confident.

A little under a week ago, during a matchup against the Anaheim Ducks, Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz suffered a lower-body injury, which originally landed him on the sidelines with what head coach Craig Berube said was a "day-to-day" ailment.

Unfortunately, on Tuesday, Leafs GM Brad Treliving shared a disappointing update, confirming that Stolarz's lower-body injury will actually require surgery, taking him out of action for several weeks.

Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews met with the media to discuss the team's level of confidence upon hearing the news of Stolarz's injury. Matthews, like a true captain, used that opportunity to pump the tires of goaltenders Joseph Woll and Dennis Hildeby to try to set them up for success through verbal support.

"I mean, I think [our confidence] is pretty high. Joe has been great for us, and the Beast has been solid when he's been up and had to play. I think we have a lot of confidence in our goalies. Obviously, we hope the best for Stolie-he's been great for us all year-but whether it's forwards or defense, guys get injured, and others have to step up."

Dennis Hildeby recently came in and secured his second win of the season in a 24-save effort against Buffalo. His .875 SV% and 3.68 GAA don't exactly stand out, but with only 3 NHL games under his belt, it's too small of a sample size to get an accurate reading of his skill set, which many believe is very good.

Meanwhile, Joseph Woll is sporting a very solid .918 SV% and a 2.24 GAA, with a record of 8-4-0 in 12 appearances. It's easy to see why Matthews would be confident in his abilities.
